So most of the people that read this blog are friends and family. Well, you may be wondering how you can help us to find the child (or children) that God has for us to adopt. Here are some of the ways you can help:
- Most importantly please include us in your prayers. We would really appreciate this.
- If you are on Facebook click Like on our posts and share them with your friends.
- If you are one of our local (Maryland) friends ask us for one of our pass along cards. If you are not local and would like a pass along card, send us your mailing address and we will drop some in the mail to you. The pass along cards are to give to someone who may be considering adoption or to people who might know someone in that situation.
- If you have a blog place a link to our blog to let your visitors know about us.
We appreciate anything you can do to help us complete our family.
As we have been going through this process we have thought a lot about what our future family will look like and the children that we will add to our family. We have found ourselves looking at adoption photolisting of waiting children. There are some wonderful children out there that are in need of forever families. One of my favorite blogs to visit is The R House. Most Mondays (Matching Monday as they call it) she has links to featured children waiting in foster care.
None of them seem like the right one though. We would love to have a baby. We have not had the joys of a baby. Our daughter Micki came to us just before her fifth birthday. With her developmental delays we have gone through (and are continuing to go through) developmental milestones. Micki works real hard to do her best at everything she does.
We are not leaving what happens with this (and any future) adoption up to us though. We try not to do that with anything in our life. Whatever happens is in God’s hands. He knows what is best in our life. He knows which child will come into our life.
I just wish it did not take so long. Trying to be patient.
We got an email last night from our case worker. She has completed our homestudy and we are officially approved to adopt and our profile is now active on the It’s About Love website. It is a work in progress, but we are now in the next (and hopefully not longest) phase of adding to our family.
We have felt for quite some time that our family is not complete yet. This, and the dreaded infirtility, is why we are pursuing adoption. Children come into families in a variety of different ways. We know that God will bless us with exactly what he wants us to have.
Down in our basement we have an area that hangs down lower than the rest of the ceiling. It is where the HVAC venting is. It makes for a little difficulty because at that point the ceiling is just above six feet above the floor. When we moved in a year ago we decided that we wanted to put a saying or something on there to remind us that a) it is there and b) is how we want to live our life. We started brainstorming and came up with some, but most were too short and did not really fit exactly with point b.
Well we finally decided what best fits with how we have lived our lives, especially since Jenn and I got married. It comes from the Book of Mormon. It is found in 2 Nephi 5:27 “And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness.” This is what we have chosen as our family motto/mantra.
We love to spend time together as a family, it is what makes us happy. Often times we will just take off in the car and find something new to see bopping along to some music. Micki will be dancing in her seat when a song she likes comes on and Jenn and I will be singing along to our favorite songs. Yeah, music is a fun pat of our lives.
Of course the most important thing that makes us happy is having Jesus Christ in our lives. We have and will overcome everything because of Christ. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ we are an eternal HAPPY family.
Well we are one step closer on the path to finding the member (or members) of our family that are waiting for us. We had our home visit from our case worker yesterday. It was a good visit and we talked about the process and our plans for whatever happens with our search. She said she would be typing up our home study and looking over our profile that we have typed online and we should have our official approval sometime in the middle of this month. Then our profile will go live on the It’s About Love website. We are getting excited. Now to go over our profile and make some last minute adjustments.
